Thursday, October 22, 2015 - 4:30pm

Steinberg Hall, Dietrich Hall, Room 1206

An Event Hosted by Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative and Sponsored by Fox Leadership and the IR programs.

As described by the Office of U.S. Trade Representative, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is the cornerstone of U.S. economic policy in Asia. It entails the creation of a free trade agreement among 12 countries (Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the U.S., and Vietnam), several of which also are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a regional organization founded in 1967 to promote peace, security, cooperation, and economic growth in that region. Alexander Feldman, President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council, will be on campus on October 29, to discuss the important implications of the TPP Agreement, as well what the TPP means for the future of U.S. relations with the ASEAN region as a whole.

Alexander Feldman is President & CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council. Founded in 1984, the Council represents more than 150 of the largest American businesses in Southeast Asia through its headquarters in Washington, DC and its seven regional offices. Since Mr. Feldman assumed his role in June of 2009, the Council has grown its membership by over 70%, more than doubled revenue and established major initiatives such as ASEAN Matters for America, the US-ASEAN Business Alliance for Competitive SMEs, an annual CEO level business mission to ASEAN, and the ASEAN Economic Ministers Roadshow.
