Indrias G. Kasseye graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992, where he studied economics and international relations. He is a communication specialist, filmmaker and writer working in development and humanitarian contexts. He has worked for UNICEF and other NGOs in Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and South Africa. His work amplifies the voices of children, families and vulnerable communities so they can share their stories to the global audience. His new documentray, Breathe in the Root, tells the story of a young African American teacher and debate instructor from Brooklyn, who goes on a journey of discovery after coming to Ethiopia, in part to discover more about his African ancestral heritage.
