IAA and MSA Hosts: Human Rights, Globalization, and Arab Spring

The Muslim
Students Association,
United Nations Association of Philadelphia, and International
Affairs
Association join forces this year to bring you five academics
and social
activists to share their thoughts on the Arab Spring. These
people are more
than experts; they and those close to them have experienced
oppression
firsthand.
One is a
filmmaker whose 2011
documentary on the Egyptian Revolution was a finalist in the
Manhattan Short
Film Festival, another is a Syrian-American dissident whose
brother was
tortured and killed under the Syrian regime, and another is a
rapper whose
talent has raised thousands for humanitarian relief
organizations and whose
performances have made headlines on BBC and Al Jazeera.
